We recently discovered the variety of Avocado on our property. There are hundreds of varieties of Avocado in the world, but the Avocado tree perched in the corner of our garden is known as "Hardee".
It is a Florida native variety of avocado that is uniquely distinguished by a deep red or purplish hue as it ripens.
Our guests are welcome to help themselves to Avocado, as long as they get to them before the squirrels and Iguanas
Aside from the bright red-purple skin, the firmness of the Avocado indicates what it would be best used for. The best way to gauge ripeness is to give the avocado a gentle squeeze. If it gives a little, this avocado is ready for salad. If it gives a lot, it’s ready for guac.
Cheers to savoring every moment, especially if it includes guacamole or avocado toast!
